Le Câtel Iron Age Fort, Grève de Lecq

Standing high on the eastern side of the small sandy bay Grève de Lecq, Le Câtel is believed to be an Iron Age promontory fort based on its concentric banks and ditches. It still may hold many more tantalising secrets as no significant excavations have been carried out. A later 18th century fort was build on the site with emplacements to defend the bay below from the threat of a French landing.
