On the south west corner of the Island, and a coast of treacherous rocks eager to snare mariners, Corbiere is the site of the first concrete lighthouse built in the British Isles in 1873. Ships from England seeking the safety of the harbours of St Aubin and St Helier had to pass Corbiere - some would get no further than this point!
