This long sandy bay on the west coast of Jersey has always been regarded as the potential entry point to invaders over the centuries. Its raw natural beauty as it overlooks the Atlantic Ocean bears the reminders of successive periods of defensive fortification to protect the Island's independence, and most recently the German fortifications which sought to deprive Islanders of that privilege.
